Eileen and Rayner's Wedding

it's rayner and eileen's wedding yesterday, 10 of us (5 brothers and 5 sisters) actually helped out for their wedding and it turned out to be quite an interesting day as we saw the carefully laid plans of the sisters when we were bargaining the "ang bao" with them..

initially, we(the brothers) figured out that they would change the gate's lock as rayner already has the key, so our one (and only) plan was to bring a chain and lock, so that we can lock them inside the house instead but we ended up forgetting the chain and we had no choice but to comply to their 4 demands..

we basically had to go through what they called "suan, tian, ku, la" (sour, sweet, bitter, spicy) and it was one of the most terrible ordeal that i was going to go through in my life.. haha..

first up was the "sweet", the sisters handed us a very big cup of GOO, all thick and sticky, we can't even tell what they put inside there when we were drinking it but it was revealed later that it was a combination of maple syrup, brown sugar and some other sweet stuff..

next up was "sour", it was lemon soaked with vinegar for god knows how many hours.. it looked bad, but it ended up quite ok as the taste of the vinegar neutralized the sour taste of the lemon, which was quite refreshing after the "sweet" actually, haha!

then it was "bitter", pretty straight forward stuff, they passed us 4 BITTERGOURDS and we had to finish them on the spot.. it was just plain nasty...

finale was "spicy" and i swear it was the nastiest shit i've ever seen and smelled in a while.. it was a combination of chilli padi, belachan and wasabi powder all in a bowl and we were all supposed to take a spoon full of it with the chilli padi.. good thing i didn't take it cos i was sick, the rest of them who took it, had stomach problems after that, haha!

after the whole ordeal, they finally let us in and the routine tea ceremony and all went on before we headed out to Conrad for the wedding reception by the poolside..

during the reception, there was actually this part where all the brothers and sister were supposed to walk in, in pairs, at a fixed interval right before the bride and groom walks in for the solemnization, but we kinda screwed it up and ended up too far ahead of the bride and the groom, haha!

the justice of peace was pretty cheeky for an old guy and he pulled a lot of quick ones at the 2 of them and still keep a straight face, amazing.. haha.. after that was just the normal routine of taking photos and stuff..

quite an enriching experience for me though, first time that im actually helping out in a wedding and it's pretty touching and all to see 2 of my friends tying the knot..

here are some pictures to end the post:

Yoz!!

Hope this is your memorable first time as a Brother for the groom!!! hehe...

Well, just to clarify, the "sweet" consist of concentrated rose syrup, honey, maple syrup and loads of sugar. Its only 2 bittergourd instead of 4! And the spicy consist of belachan chilli, whole pack of chilli padi, tobasco and wasabi powder. Hope this clarifies... hehehe :P

Anyway, i didnt remember you having a camera!! So, whose camera was it?? Some nice pics u have too!
