CNY Eve

this year's a little different from previous years, we actually broke out of our tradition of having steamboat and headed out for our reunion dinner. ended up at a restarunt called matilda bay at marina country club. food and atmosphere's all very good, not to mention that it would be a good place to dine on valentine's day :D

after spending quite an obscene amount of time deciding where to go before our midnite movie, we all decided that we should head to River Hong Bao:

it's as crowded as any other year even though we were there pretty early (ard 1930?) and everything's pretty standard i guess, took some time to read through the chinese horoscopes for the coming year and mine doesn't look too good apart from the fact that i might have some luck late in this year..

and there was this gigantic god of fortune spraying stuff out once in a while with people trying to catch it.. it's just weird =/

God Of Fortune spraying stuff

as we were heading out of the whole thing, something caught my eye -- a fortune teller. i don't know why, but i just felt like having my fortune told, probably because i have nv gotten mine told before, so i decided to take a shot at it. plus the guy at the booth looked like a pro, the kind you see on tv shows and im so glad i did..

this guy's scarily accurate, really, he could tell what i was thinking and all.. you might say that i must be matching my problems to what he is saying, but seriously, you have to try it to believe..

listening...

must have been telling me something good

after that was watchin Jet Li's Fearless at bishan and i must say that it's a must watch for this CNY, it's really good and it's Jet Li's last martial arts movie, more reason to watch it..

that's all for now, have a good collection everyone :D

so far..

there isn't a morning this few weeks that i actually wake up refreshed from my sleep over the night and ready for the day ahead of me. i would wake up all stoned, red eyed and wishing that i could just savour a few more hours of sleep before i drag my lifeless self into driving to work.

i've been losing sleep since 3 weeks ago and i'd never fail to go to bed later then i should be so that i can wake up the next morning energized. i never really liked sleeping cos it's a waste of time to me but i think i've reached my limits now that i really feel like i need to sleep more than i have these days.

work, in camp and out of camp, just seems to be coming in only when i truely don't have the energy to solve them. and solving them just sucks the remaining life force that keeps me up and going to work.

my mind is a blank now.

things will be better once i get back my sleep over the long weekend...

Shopping and Birthday

i just realized how i would give myself reasons to spend a fair bit of money sometimes. this time i was thinking that since it's my birthday and chinese new year is coming soon, i might as well get some stuff and get ready for CNY.

and ever since i started having a regular paycheck every month, i realize that i have stints when i spend obscene amount of money (or at least it's obscene compared to how much i spend last time) and this time round, i have succeeded once again. this time though, it's the most i've spend in a short period...

some of the spoils of my expedition to town:

nike super anvil

"mr moose"

had a little dinner with some of the DK people @ father flanangan's on sunday and it was pretty good, although we failed to catch soccer that night because the projector in the pub screwed up.. what i did not expect was what they got me for my birthday..

meet miss "dteq model"

i had to close my eyes for like 15 mins after dinner so they could figure out how to fix it and make it work infront of me.. apparently, you can make miss dteq here dance in some weird positions as they have eventually managed to put her in during dinner on sunday.. but she has not left the box ever since she came home with me.. i'm currently considering some human trafficking deal with my baby cousin who stays 2 doors away.. haha

next was really a suprise when i paid dion a visit at lens men (which his father owns) cos he and andrew actually got me this:

nice doggy

they got me an iDog!! i always thought that it's just some dumb toy that dances to the music that you play, but it turned out to be quite cool as it's actually a speaker too.. i guess i don't have to get portable speakers anyway..

and before i forget. Thanks for your birthday wishes guys! :)

Yuling's Wedding and MoS

went to yuling's wedding @ Orchid Country Club yesterday and i must say that it's pretty good. i was actually suprised that Orchid Country Club has such a impressive ballroom.

the usual suspects

the first thing we saw on the table the moment we entered the ballroom were:

he-bear

she-bear

we kinda got bored waiting for the whole dinner so we were playing around with the bears and saying that this would be how a happy would look like

happy couple

and there's the couples that are very indeed "happy"

"im happy, so happy~"

ok, that came out a lil wrong, but well, it's all fun..

after the dinner, we went to MoS for our virgin visit and it was well worth taking my day off for it. first place that we headed to was Smoove which was a hip-hop room and i have to say that it's fucking incredible~ nice crowd and one of the best djs i've heard so far..

then it was off to the main arena and it's huge, with a waterfall near the center of the arena.. was playing retro, wanted to stay, but we moved on anyway... after that it was up the escalator (yes they have an escalator in the club!! just how cool is that, haha!) and went to this room called 54 which was a retro room.. all i can say that the deco for the whole place is damn nice...

NEED TO GO MoS MORE OFTEN!!

Review and Resolutions

i know it's a bit late for for this but well, it's not even a week into year yet, so what the hell..

lots of highs and lows for this year and so much has been happening that i don't really remember most of the things that actually happened except for a few memorable ones.

start of the year was a high when i found that i got into OCS after my BMT ended in December `04.. was still feeling bloody garang (gung-ho) when i was still in infantry.. until i made a wrong choice and put a tick on a column that says "Most preferred" on a piece of paper that asked for our preferrences on going to air force's ADA (air defence artillery).

things started turning shitty when i got in there, i was totally shellshocked by the culture in there.. as much as i liked going out to the fields for exercises and all, i was confined to the classrooms. i swear i studied more than i did in polytechnic. there's when my morale hit rock bottom..

luckily things got better when i actually started the phase in Air Force School (AFS), probably the fittest time of my life so far, being able to do 25 chin ups at one shot, still damn proud of it even though now i can only manage around 18 if i squeeze my balls hard enough.. haha

then there were lows where i suffered multiple injuries during my course time, i had like heel spurs on both feet, a calf problem that came up to my hamstring and a recurring knee problem.. i was so injured at that time that i was called "injury-prone man" by some of my coursemates.. it took me like almost 3 months and a risk of being sent out of course before i bounced back from everything (almost) and got commissioned which was an euphoric experience!

and of course, there was ultimate frisbee too.. how can i forget captaining DK and leading them for every training which proved nerved wrecking and mind numbing to a certain extend with some random group of people pulling stunts off every week during training.. haha.. i have to admit that it was quite frustrating and i even reached a point that i wanted to give up.. but i guess it's all good now. a new year and i hope everything will be fine as well..

and you might have noticed now that i pretty much don't have a life because everything i have done this year only involves either military stuff or ultimate frisbee.. but i guess that's the way i work, pure dedication.. wahaha!

have had quite a few shortcomings this year and i'll be looking to kick them away as the new year comes and of course, my new school term in NUS when august comes.

so here's what i thought i should be doing this year:

  • Get out of the lazy shell that i've slowly and steadily withdrew into
  • Be more organized
  • Save lots of money
  • Study really really hard when i start my school term (yeah right, haha)
  • Get a life (??)
  • Learn Salsa

like when my first point implies, im too lazy to list out everything, so i guess i'll add in on the way through the year.. haha..
