Refreshing

was driving back to hall the other day and i passed by an area that i used to drive to quite frequently last time; to drop off someone that i was close with in particular.

i have no idea why this feeling hit me but it just did and when i look back, those were good times and it's a pity it would have never worked out even if i tried. it's not everyday that i can find someone that i can engage with so well and i sure miss that feeling.

come to think of it, i haven't had that feeling in a long time and i don't know it's because i've stopped trying altogether or is there nobody around that can really engage me as well as that person.

sometimes having randoms thoughts can be quite refreshing for some reason.
life is good now.

Ibuprofen vs Paracetamol

i ain't no doctor, but i'm telling you guys that paracetamol (aka. panadol) is crap. for those who are alien to the term ibuprofen, it's an anti-inflammatory drug which is more or less similar to panadol and can be bought OTC (over the counter) at pharmacies in forms of Nurofen or Advil.

been sick for the past 2 days and i was being prescribed paracetamol for my cold/fever by the doctor. i followed the doctor's instructions and took the paracetamol for 1 whole day. at the end of the day, i was still feeling at crap, feeling little or no improvement, that's when i went ransacking in my little medicine stash for my ever-trusty Advil and it really paid off.

not only did it cure my cold/fever, even my sore throat was almost gone this morning. i am never taking paracetamol again. EVER.

but well, like i said, i ain't no doctor, so if you take my word for it and it doesn't work, don't blame me.

if you need more convincing, take a look at this:

Living Alone

Staying alone, as far as i'm concerned, is a great thing and i totally love the lifestyle that i'm having now in hall. there's so much freedom and unexplored territories in life to discover when you're living alone.

but nothing is perfect in whatever you do and i just discovered the downside of staying alone -- being sick. been down with fever and cold since the afternoon and now it's only getting a little better, although my body's still aching like a bitch.

good thing i was out when i felt the full-blown effects of my cold-fever combo and i ended up going to the clinic in school before heading back to hall. i can imagine myself being lerthagic from the fever/cold and just staying in my room to rest. i'd probably starve to death by now.

i really need to do my readings but i don't think my body is in the optimal state to be doing it. guess my weekend's reserved for that. argh

Kangoo - The Fun Van

as most of you know (or may not know), that i actually drive a Renault Kangoo, which is also dubbed as "The Fun Van" and my friends in hall sure had a fun time with my van on my birthday yesterday.

i was still secretly glad that im having a peaceful birthday in hall without having to go through the painful ordeal of being stripped, deep heat to where the sun don't shine, etc and even when i walked past a bunch of them who were gathering near my block after i came back from buying supper, they didn't attempt to do anything to me, or so i thought.

in the middle of the night when i was sleeping, i had a friend sms me:
"hey dude, happy birthday! and btw, nice van"

when i saw that sms, i immediately woke up at 3am, rushed out to my van and had the shock of my life:

all new improved kangoo, even comes with a big antenna

streamers (toilet paper) wrapped around the van

it really didn't help that it rained in the middle of the night and all the stuff they used on my van sort of disintegrated.

what was even better was that the campus security came over and clamped my wheel. apparently, my van had become and nuisance to the area and people actually complained. sure, clamp me for being the victim. good thing i didn't have to pay anything to get the clamp away.

all wet and mushy

ewwww..

and the ever amusing wheel clamp

at the end of the day, everyone who knew i drove that van, knew that it was my birthday because of all the artistic additions. everyone else who passed by would be pointing and getting amused by it.

i feel so loved. thanks guys. hah.

Game Plan

school is starting tomorrow but i really don't feel like it's starting. i guess im still very much in my holiday mood but good things have to come to an end and this coming sem i have to work very hard. even if i have to be a model student, i have to get good results to pull up my embarrassing CAP from last sem.

i've come up with a game plan for this sem:
  • go to tutorials with answers
  • will spend at least 2 hours everyday doing work, reading or revising
  • club less during weekdays
  • attend lectures
if i follow the game plan closely, my CAP should be able to leapfrog from it's current pitiful state. just hope that i will have the determination to follow through.

this sem, i will be the MODEL STUDENT!

Touch And Booze

had a full day Inter-Hall touch rugby carnival and i must say that it's really fun although we only managed to muster up 4 draws, 1 lost and 2 tries between 5 games. i'm really proud to say that although we're not the best performing team among all the sports, our bond is really strong and i really expect to see everyone back playing touch together again. i guess we're still a very young team made up of mainly freshmen, we'll come back stronger next year!

it really didn't feel tiring when i was still at the carnival after playing all full 5 matches (and scoring a try *gloats*) but once i washed up and started relaxing, my body felt like a wreck, even washing the mud of my clothes at the sink felt like a uphill task.

we decided to head to brewerkz and cafe iguana to booze up although all of us were really tired and we sure had helluva time. i must say that tired people do stupid things sometimes and the trip to brewerkz with san duo, gy, hammie, hongyi, kok and ziqi was freaking hilarious.

after sharing 3 towers of beer between 12 people (with only around 8 really drinking), we decided to head over to iguana's to try out the infamous CHILLI TEQUILA (who the hell drinks this crap?) and i dreaded the feeling of that drink because i can't take chilli.

and as expected, i hurled shortly after that drink reach my stomach, burning my throat, intestines and whatever that was on the way. it didn't help that i think the drink burnt me when i took a crap in the morning (HAH).

photos for the night coming soon!

kok being himself.. really..

wacky bunch - hammie, gy (try repeating that very fast), san duo

happiness!

why on earth do they have chilli tequila?

Tooth

i broke half of my left front tooth quite a few years back when i was in secondary 4 and i filled up the offensive looking gap twice (the most recent time being 2 years ago). as much as i would like it to hold for as long as possible, it felt a bit loose recently and i actually wanted to check it out soon but it broke even before i could go check it out. i was having a basketball friendly in NTU and an elbow came smashing into my face when i was on defence which left me with half a tooth once again.

it's only through this incident that i realized what people actually look at when they're talking to you -- your mouth. maybe the people i always talk to are standing such that their eye level's at my mouth because on the very night i broke my tooth, every single person i spoke to when i got back to hall noticed that my tooth broke.

good thing that i managed to get to a dentist without making an appointment the next day, if not i'll be walking around looking like some "ti ko" (pervert) or "ah beng" (gangster) for a few days until i get root canal and crowning for this bloody tooth.

looks like a small gap? think again.

a little souvenir from the friendly match

all patched up

NYE

met up with some of my secondary school peeps for dinner. it was quite a good time to catch up since the last time we actually met was like more than half a year ago.

our initial plan was actually to eat at Kubulai Khan at Park Mall but we decided otherwise when christine said that it was too expensive on weekends. so after walking around, we ended up at..

Curry Favor

not the first time that i've eaten there, but it was quite some time since i've eaten there and i must say that the food still impresses me. after dinner, i got a little bored so tried my new phone's camera:

hmm.. is this a japanese or indian restaurant?

lidong and boon

christine and huiyi

an attempt to take a photo of ourselves

after dinner i parted with them and joined some of my ultimate frisbee guys for countdown at MOS. the crowd was like really crazy especially in smoove but it was damn fun and the fact that we went into MOS on a high after finishing a bottle of absolut before going in was even better. looks like i ended last year on a high.
